Controversial Science of 2009

Boys' issues are neglected.

I picked this topic because the title was interesting. I dont agree to what this article is saying, even if the research proves it. Boys, in my opinion, have been the center of attention for many years. I think that people pay more attention to boys than they do to girls. People say that in general boys have lower grades than girls. This is not completely true. I think that everyone has the potential to do good in school. This article was selected as one of the top controversial topics of 2009 most probably because a lot of people may disagree.

Dinosaurs succumbed to toxic algae.

I picked this topic because i like dinosaurs. I believe that the researchers from Clemson University are partially right. If the algae was intoxicated then all the herbivore dinosaurs that ate this kind of algae will soon die. All the omnivore and carnivore dinosaurs feed on other dinosaurs. If they eat the dinosaurs that consumed the toxic producing algae then those dinosaurs will also die. So a large variety of dinosaurs would die because of the toxic producing algae. But it is not certain that all herbivores ate this kind of algae so this. So this is would not be the only reason why the dinosaurs became extinct. This article might have been one of the top controversial topics of 2009 because the cause of the extinction of dinosaurs is still being discussed.

How the government spends "our money."

There has been a lot of disputes on how the government spends money. We care, of course, because it is mostly our money that they spend. We want it to be used wisely. One aspect the money is being used on is volcano monitoring. Some people like the Louisiana Governor might have problems with this. They think it is unnecessary. I think that the money is going to a good cause. There are a lot of things that need aid in this world. Why not volcanoes? Volcanoes damaged many towns and killed many people. I think it is a good idea to use our money to monitor volcanoes. This topic would be one of the top controversial topics of '09 because a lot question where the money we pay to the government is going and if it is used for a reasonable cause.


Our ancestor, 'Ida?'

I choose this topic because i think it's very important to know where humans evolved from. We may think that we know where we came from but there are always new findings. I think that scientists should research more on Ida. It is possible, in my opinion, that there could be a new starting point to the evolution of humans. The research for evolution will never end. New discoveries are still to be made. Ida is a new discovery which everyone would want to know about.
