a. Did the Doctors take the right course of action after the accidental mutilation?
I don't think the doctors did the right thing after the accidental mutilation because there were other better, much successful options than the option they choose. They shouldn't have done what they did after the accident because it made the boy's life very difficult. The article states, "After years as an outcast and battling depression, Reimer learned the truth of his past when he was a teen. He decided then to live as a male."
b. What other methods or actions could have been taken?
The doctors, in my opinion, had another way out of the problem they created. They could have done research to help them find a way to cure the boy. Another solution could have been to consult other doctors and see what they would have done if they were in the same situation. A simpler way is to just not do anything; there couldn't possibly have as much down sides to this than the boy having to live his life knowing he had treatment concerning female hormones.
c. Who is to blame and how can this be avoided in the future.
I think the doctors are to blame because they were the ones who caused the problems. To avoid future problems the doctors can ask the parents for permission. It is the parent's decision.
d. Your overall thoughts and comments on this topic.
I don't think the doctors should have given the boy female hormones when he was a baby. First, it wasn't their decision to take this kind of action. Other ways, that did not put in question of his gender, could have been thought of. This would have decreased the trouble the man through in his life. It would and did ruin his life when he grew up.

i agree with u and its all the doctors fault he could of had a normal life but instead expierimented on him ruining his life forever...evil doctors
Agreed. =)
i agree that the doctors didnt do the right thing.
I also think that the doctors could have taken different measures. They could have consulted other doctors to find out what to do, but instead they acted on a whim and ruined a mans life.
yep, really sad... and the doctors are not evil; they just made mistakes.
